What do you see? (L.A. January 2025)

The fires in and around Los Angeles are absolutely terrifying. Utterly heartbreaking. There is no responsible way to discuss these fires without acknowledging the almost unendurable pain that individuals feel when losing a home — not merely a house, but a home — and everything in it. Every keepsake. Every book. Every favorite article of clothing. Birth certificates, Kindergarten report cards, handwritten recipes, laptops, LPs, paintings, favorite pillows, everything that makes a house a home.

Los Angeles, January 2025

If you don’t donate some money to the recovery effort, maybe you should question your humanity.

The Republican Party has been having a great time blaming the Governor, the Democratic Party, and people who voted for Democrats in the last election for the fires. The ass who will be our President has said that California’s environmental law prevent water from flowing to Los Angeles and thus contributed to the fires.

You know what?

Even if the Governor had lit the fires himself — with every Democrat in the state legislature standing behind him, applauding — that has absogoddamnlutely nothing to do with the pain and suffering that the people affected by these fires are feeling.

Get your head out of your ass and help your fellow human beings. Ask no questions. Just give what you can.
